Eastgate takes big lead at World Series of Poker
Peter Eastgate has taken a greater than 7-to-1 chip lead over Ivan Demidov in his bid to become the youngest World Series of Poker champion.
The 22-year-old put Demidov on his heels by stopping the 27-year-old from bluffing a a pot worth roughly 44 million chips early Tuesday. Demidov bet 12 million chips on the river with an ace high, and Eastgate called with a diamond flush.
Eastgate, of Odense, Denmark, won another significant pot four hands later with a full house and immediately began putting pressure on the final opponent standing between him and the title worth $9.15 million.
