Africa: Top Egyptian Soccer Club Triumphs
The Egyptian club Al-Ahly of Cairo have won the African Champions League trophy for the sixth time, winning 4-2 on aggegrate over Coton Sport of Cameroon. They concluded their victory with a 2-2 away draw following a 2-0 home win. Al-Ahly has now won more soccer titles than any other club in Africa.

Tunisia: 'Economy is in Good Health' Says IMF Director General'
During a press conference held at the head office of the Tunisian Central Bank, the Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr Dominique Strauss Kahn said that Tunisia will witness "a strong economic growth, in spite of the world financial crisis which will affect in different degrees all countries". He also added that Maghrebi countries which are not oil producers are capable of overcoming the consequences of this crisis, "with a minimum of damage".

This ruling upheld a previous decision to ban the media and the publication of any information from the trial of the individuals accused of murdering Lebanese artist Susan Tamim. All note-taking is prohibited, except for the court record and the publication of any final decision made by the court at the end of the trial.

Tunisia: Independent TV Reporter Wanted By Police for Coverage of Unrest in Mining Region
Reporters Without Borders calls for the withdrawal of the charges brought against Fahem Boukadous, a reporter for the independent Tunisian television station Al-Hiwar Attounsi. Boukadous, who went into hiding on 5 July 2008, is wanted by the authorities on charges of "belonging to a criminal association" and "spreading reports liable to disrupt public order" for his coverage of protests earlier this year in the Gafsa mining region, 350 km south of Tunis, and because he put foreign news media in contact with labour leaders in the region.

Egypt: End 'Shoot to Stop' Practice At Sinai Border Crossings
Since June 2007, Egyptian border guards have killed at least 32 African migrants trying to cross into Israel, and Israel has forcibly returned at least 139 border crossers to Egypt, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today. Egypt has detained those returned, not revealed their whereabouts, and reportedly deported some to their home countries where they face a substantial risk of persecution.
