NEW YORK (Reuters) - Motorola Inc , the world's third-biggest phone maker, unveiled a touch-sensitive phone to be sold by Verizon Wireless, as both companies look to compete with Apple Inc's iPhone.

Motorola, which has been losing ground in the cell phone market as it has failed to come up with a hit phone to replace its once-lauded Razr, said the Krave ZN4 would go on sale on Tuesday for $149.99 after rebates to customers who sign a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless.

The Krave has a see-through cover that flips open to uncover a touch-screen virtual keypad, but users can also access popular features such as mobile television and navigation by pressing their fingers on the cover without opening the phone.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp has taken full ownership of mobile content provider Jamba by buying VeriSign Inc's 49 percent stake for about $200 million, the two companies said on Tuesday.

Jamba makes content such as wallpapers, ringtones and games for mobile phones. It also offers short episodes -- called "mobisodes" -- of some Fox TV series, including "24," "Prison Break" and "Bones," for phones.

Internet security company VeriSign has been trying to divest its slower-growing businesses to focus on its core website-naming and Internet security services.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The global cell phone market should grow at much slower-than-expected rates next year as consumers put off buying new devices due to deepening economic concerns, according to forecasts from analysts.

While industry executives often say cell phones are the last thing consumers will give up to save money, analysts are now citing lengthening phone replacement cycles and weakening economies around the world for their weaker sales estimates.

UBS analyst Maynard Um halved his forecast for 2009 global handset growth to 3 percent from 6 percent, pointing to particular weakness in Europe and North America.
